Ravenna, July 25, 2026 – A unaccepted and opposed romantic liaison turned into a real street battle in the heart of Mezzano. The Carabinieri had to intervene urgently to separate two family groups who were confronting each other with stones and sticks, restoring calm before the situation escalated further.

Families opposed the love between the two young people
At the root of the violent dispute, which erupted on the evening of July 22, was the strong opposition of relatives to the relationship between two young people from their respective families. Accumulated tension escalated into a collective assault witnessed by passers-by, interrupted only by the arrival of Carabinieri patrols engaged in routine territorial controls.
The desperate escape in a car against traffic
During the scuffle, one of the participants attempted a desperate escape by getting into his car. The driver ignored the military’s stop signal and sped off against traffic along the street, forcing those present to get out of the way to avoid being hit. His escape, however, lasted very little: the Carabinieri reached and safely stopped him, also discovering that the vehicle was completely without mandatory insurance coverage.
Five charges
The operation concluded with the charging of five foreign citizens to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The charges, contested on various grounds, range from aggravated brawl to the illegal carrying of offensive weapons, up to resisting a Public Official. All sticks and stones used during the clash were seized as criminal evidence.
