Pennabilli (Rimini) July 25, 2026 – New storm for Mauro Giannini, the far-right mayor of the Rimini municipality of Pennabilli.
In a social media post, the mayor, who in the past had said he wanted to die in a black shirt, called Mario Roggero an “hero”, the jeweler convicted of double murder, comparing his act to that of the partisans.
“He should not go to prison but to the shooting range, as he failed to kill the third criminal,” he wrote, adding that “even the partisans shot at those who were moving away, with the difference that these were called heroes.”

Strong condemnation from Anpi of Rimini, which in a note speaks of “intolerable words of hatred” and condemns the mayor’s “very serious apology for violence”. Anpi strongly rejects “any attempt to tarnish the Resistance”, recalling that it was the Nazi-fascists who struck from behind and massacred civilians.
