Ghost residence in Milano Marittima: "We paid the deposit for the holidays, but that facility does not exist

Milano Marittima (Ravenna), July 28, 2026 – Some have lost 200 euros, some found themselves without accommodation just days before Ferragosto, and some, after already booking even the beach establishment, saw their vacation vanish.

This is the case of the “Residence Ferrino”, an online advertised facility as a cozy solution in the heart of Milano Marittima, between the sea and the pine forest, but which, according to complaints filed with the carabinieri and testimonies appearing on social media, does not exist at the indicated address.

The story is making noise. On Facebook groups dedicated to Milano Marittima, warnings are multiplying.

“I was just scammed by the non-existent Residence Ferrino”, writes a tourist, asking for help to find an apartment after losing the deposit money.

Another confirmation: “Residence Ferrino in Milano Marittima and Residence da Andrea in Cesenatico do not exist”. There are also those who claim that the photos used in the ads were taken from an apartment that was never put up for rent.

The tourist who went to the authorities

Among those who decided to turn to the authorities is a tourist from Bologna.

“My friend and I – she recounts – wanted to spend three days at Ferragosto in Romagna. On Booking we found this new facility. There were no reviews yet so we looked for the website”.

A well-maintained portal, with inviting photos, reassuring descriptions, and a phone number.

“A kind lady answered us. Shortly after she sent us a quote: 400 euros total, 200 as a deposit via bank transfer and the balance on arrival. Fearing to lose the apartment, we paid immediately”.

However, the enthusiasm lasts very little. “Right after the transfer, my friend started looking for information online. We found terrible reviews that even spoke of a non-existent facility”.

The woman immediately calls back the number. “They reassured me saying it was all false and that they had even reported those spreading those rumors. But the doubt was already there”.

The two then decide to verify in person. “We went to the indicated address. A resident explained to us that many people arrive there asking about Residence Ferrino, but there is no facility with that name“.

Soon after they are directed to the nearby Palazzo Kent, where another resident tells of a neighbor who fell victim to the same situation.

“At that point we tried calling back several times, but no one answered anymore. So we went to the carabinieri to file a complaint”.

In the report, filed on July 25 at the Milano Marittima carabinieri station, all the collected elements are indicated: the website, the IBAN to which the deposit was paid, the name associated with the bank account, and the host name reported on Booking. But there is one detail that leaves even more perplexed.

“To see if they were still operating – the tourist recounts – I made a new booking request for another period. They replied immediately, sending me another quote and once again asking for an advance bank transfer”.

The attempt to contact them

Yet Residence Ferrino continued to appear online until yesterday morning, although the overall rating is “Terrible”, with just 1 point out of 10. We also contacted the number indicated on the site, pretending to be interested in a booking.

The woman who answers asks for the dates of the stay and promises a quote via WhatsApp. But when we point out the numerous negative reviews, she replies: “They are other hoteliers, we have already made complaints and reports”. And when we observe that some customers claim not to have found any facility at the indicated address, she sharply replies: “Impossible, they went to the wrong place”.

The conversation changes tone when the phone is passed to a man. The tone quickly changes. “Go check what profiles those who write are, they are all fake,” he says. Then he claims that no one can prove they did not find the facility and even states: “On July 25 they found no one? Impossible, I was there. I have the cameras”. From there, however, the confrontation quickly degenerates, with heavy insults and threats ending the call.
