Reggio Emilia, August 07, 2026 – The operations to extinguish the forest fire that started yesterday at 5:50 PM in the area of Vedriano, still part of Canossa (Reggio Emilia), continue. The fire developed in a very rugged area and, according to the latest updates, has affected about 5 hectares of land already burned, with a fire front of about 800 meters.
The firefighters’ intervention since Thursday
Since yesterday afternoon, the firefighters have been engaged with several teams: four from Reggio Emilia, one from Castelnovo Monti, one from Sant’Ilario, one from Sassuolo, and one from Parma and Bologna.
The fire was presumably started by a lightning strike that fell shortly before, during the passage of a thunderstorm cell.
