Forlì, August 10, 2026 – He is 19 years old, the youngest of those who have been arrested on charges of killing 53-year-old Nicola Musiani, in Pinarella di Cervia, with the aggravating circumstance of trivial motives: when Meldola talks about Conor Finn Long these days, disbelief still lingers.
Not everyone immediately associates the name with the face, because the family lives in a hill village. However, he wore the yellow-red colors of Meldola Calcio at the youth level. And the reactions are of astonishment: “Incredible – a citizen lets slip –. I understood who his parents are: they are good and attentive.” The mother is Italian, the father – as the boy’s name reveals – is Irish.
Conor Finn Long was born on January 1, 2007 at the hospital in Faenza, at 4:50 in the morning: the details of the event are known because he was the first born that year in the entire province of Ravenna, and the news was published by Carlino. Nineteen years, 7 months, and 6 days later, the Forlì carabinieri executed the arrest request by prosecutor Angela Scorza of the Ravenna prosecutor’s office, as “suspect of crime”.
According to the carabinieri’s reconstruction, he allegedly drove the gray Fiat Punto from which the ‘reinforcements’ got out, after a gang member, 16 years old, had started the fight with Musiani (the 16-year-old is monitored by the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office of Bologna, to which the Ravenna magistrates have forwarded the files).

According to what investigators have reconstructed, the 19-year-old left on July 22 for Morocco together with Oussama Ragme, 22 years old – one of the others arrested, along with Houssam Abir and Bilal Mahboubi –, also residing in Meldola (where he has lived since he was one year old). July 22 is four days after the brutal beating in which – according to the accusation – they participated, the very one in which Musiani’s death was declared. Oussama’s father said that it was not a flight: “It was a vacation already planned. We would have joined them too. When he found out what was happening, he took the ticket and came back. He didn’t want to seem like someone running away”.

The episode, for the magistrates, constituted a flight risk: from their return the operation that led to the arrest on Friday was triggered. Of all four, investigators seized clothes and are checking chats on the phones.
“In town, for the past year, they describe Conor and his friends as ‘hotheads’,” they say in the bar frequented by three of the four arrested. Meldola Calcio did not want to comment on the news concerning its former player (in 2025 he is not recorded as having played).
And there is high regard for the parents: the mother was involved for ten years in the council of her own village and for some time was part of a charity association. “I am incredulous and shocked by the very serious episode – says one of the volunteers –. I know well the parents of Conor Finn Long and I can say that they have always taught the values of non-violence”.
