Bologna, August 10, 2026 – The two police officers returned this morning to service at the Bolognina-Pontevecchio Police Station, not on the street but currently in the office, the two police officers who intervened on the morning of July 19 to immobilize Abderrahim Fakir, the 42-year-old Moroccan who died during the action, on via Svevo, in Bologna.
Regarding the case, the Bologna Prosecutor’s Office has opened a file for manslaughter, under the ’45 bis’ model, involving the two officers and four Red Cross operators present that day.
«As I imagined, they have remained in their role, in their group of belonging. Keeping them on an internal service rather than immediately assigning them to patrol, also for a gradual resumption of their activity, is probably a suitable choice», explained their lawyer, attorney Gabriele Bordoni.
This morning, meanwhile, at a Ris laboratory in Rome, a forensic copy of the bodycam of one of the two officers – the patrol leader, who turned it on before the intervention – was acquired to extract the data.
«Regarding the technical operations, today the forensic copy of the bodycam was made as a preliminary act to its examination, which I imagine will also be in the direction I proposed, that is, improving the audio – explained Bordoni – because as for the video there is nothing to improve, it is of excellent quality, but the audio was overwhelmed by the noise of cicadas, background noise, and instead it needs to be improved, cleaned for better listening.»
