Modena, August 16, 2026 – Accident on the afternoon of Ferragosto at Due Ponti, one of the most frequented destinations in the Modenese Apennines, in the municipality of Fanano.
A 70-year-old woman, resident in the province of Rovigo, was with her husband along the Ospitale stream seeking relief during the days of intense heat.
According to what has been reconstructed, the woman, for reasons yet to be determined, fell from the top of the waterfall present in the stream, making a fall of about seven meters and repeatedly hitting the protruding rocks.

The arrival of the rescue team, the intervention with the winch
The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m., under the eyes of the husband and other people present at the scene, who immediately alerted the Single Emergency Number 112.
The Emilia East Operations Center promptly activated the rescue, sending the Fanano ambulance and the team of the Mountain and Speleological Rescue of the Monte Cimone station.
The CNSAS technicians, after an initial health and environmental safety assessment, requested the intervention of the 118 helicopter from Pavullo nel Frignano, equipped with a winch, as the area was not accessible.
