Bologna, July 13, 2026 – The crisis in the Middle East continues to complicate the lives of fuel suppliers for airplanes. The latest consequence has affected Air Bp, one of the main suppliers of kerosene also for Marconi Airport in Bologna. The inconvenience for the aircraft fuel supplier was caused by the failure of a tanker ship to arrive, which was supposed to deliver a scheduled load of product.
“No Notam to limit fuel loading”
It was initially hypothesized that this unforeseen event could trigger a Notam to limit the supplier’s fuel loading to no more than two thousand liters on aircraft with flight durations under three hours. But as of last night, such a Notam: “Has not yet arrived and most likely will not,” clarified Marconi Airport. The forecast of a limitation related to the problems of the Air Bp supplier should not cause delays or cancellations for passengers departing and arriving at Bologna airport, where flights are still regular.
“No problems nor flight cancellations”
“The Notam has not yet been issued and therefore there are no indications for any limitations. Limitations that would, in any case, concern only one supplier.”
The other company that supplies aircraft fuel to ‘Marconi’ (the Carboil) in fact reports no problems and so “simply the refueling of the planes will be redirected to this other supplier as long as Air Bp’s problems persist. But this will not cause any problems nor much less cancellations for flights departing and expected in Bologna.”
