A 33-year-old Senegalese man, resident in Cesena, was arrested during the night by the officers of the Ravenna Police Headquarters patrols. The man, with no criminal record and a metalworker, was not drunk. He explained to the officers that he fled because he was scared after seeing the patrol car’s flashing lights: “I was afraid because I don’t have a driver’s license, only a motorcycle one.” He then added that he had “got scared” and lost control of the situation.

The new Highway Code rule

The arrest was made in relation to the new offense provided by the Highway Code for those who flee a stop in dangerous ways. Before Judge Cosimo Pedullà, the prosecutor requested house arrest and nighttime confinement. The defense is entrusted to lawyer Saverio Caruccio.
