Pesaro, August 23, 2026 – “I could have been dead”, and there is a social media hunt for the hit-and-run driver. Anna Benvenuti, 34 years old, from Pesaro, recounts being hit last Friday at Villa Ceccolini. A car hit her with the right side mirror which broke leaving pieces on the asphalt and fled without even slowing down. The fragments left on the ground, presumably from a Fiat, could become a clue to trace the car and thus the alleged culprit.
The account of the accident
“Friday evening – she says – I was at Villa Ceccolini, where my parents live, I was walking along via Lago Maggiore when a car hit me. The car was heading towards Scavolini. In the impact, the car broke the right side mirror leaving pieces on the road. I was returning towards the church walking along via Lago Maggiore, at number 180. The car was going very fast. It hit me and pieces of the mirror flew around. At first, I didn’t realize what had happened. I thought: am I dead?“.
The noise was so loud that some people came out of their houses to see what had happened. “The driver of the car did not stop and didn’t even slow down. It’s impossible that he didn’t realize he hit me”.
The rescue
Anna, whose voice is still full of emotion as she recounts what happened, was assisted by an ambulance. “The car hit my arm which is becoming swollen and black and, if it hadn’t been for the person who was with me, I would have fallen in the impact“. And there is a detail Anna does not forget. A few seconds before the impact, she had moved the friend who was walking with her. “If I hadn’t moved him, he probably would have been hit“.
The pieces of the car’s side mirror
The car, according to what is read in the appeal entrusted by Anna to social media, “left pieces of the right side mirror and they could belong to 4/5 Fiat models. From my memories, it seemed two-tone white and black. The right side mirror that the car broke is white. If you know mechanics, please notify them to immediately report to the police if someone comes to repair a right side mirror of a Fiat. Please spread this as much as possible. Thank you for your cooperation”. Anna has filed a complaint with the traffic police.
