Morciano (Rimini), August 30, 2026 – He had decided to end it all. And he would have succeeded, if not for the timely intervention of the carabinieri.
When they found him, the man was already in serious condition and semi-conscious, due to the amount of herbicide he had drunk. The tragedy was averted by the soldiers from Morciano and Cattolica: they saved the life of a 59-year-old man from Morciano, who attempted suicide by ingesting a large amount of herbicide.
The incident happened on Thursday and the man, who is still hospitalized, is fortunately doing better and is out of danger.
He himself called the station: “I’m going to end it”
On the morning of August 27, it was the 59-year-old who called the Morciano carabinieri station, around 11 a.m. “I’m going to end it, I’m going to end it,” the man repeated several times. The carabiniere who took the call tried to keep him on the phone as long as possible.
Meanwhile, he alerted the operations center of the Riccione carabinieri company. The carabiniere made him talk at length, asking him the reasons for his desperate act and also where he was calling from.

The conversation with the carabiniere
The man spoke about serious family problems that had driven him to take his own life and at one point, pressed by the officer, he said he was in a car in an underground parking lot. While talking on the phone with the 59-year-old, the carabiniere alerted colleagues at the operations center, who sent a patrol from Cattolica to look for the man.
Despite the few clues, the soldiers managed after various searches to finally locate the man. He was semi-conscious and already in serious condition due to the amount of herbicide ingested.
The carabinieri immediately called the 118 medical team, who rushed to the scene. After stabilizing the 59-year-old with first aid on site, they took him to the ’Infermi’ hospital in Rimini. The man is still hospitalized, but fortunately – thanks to the quick response – he is no longer in life-threatening condition.
