Riccione, September 10, 2026 – Great fear this evening on Viale Ceccarini, where a large pine tree collapsed shortly after 7:30 PM, in front of the Max Mara store and about fifty meters from the railway.

In the fall, the tree also brought down a streetlight. Fortunately, there were no injuries. It had rained heavily in the afternoon, but at the time of the collapse it had stopped and the avenue was still busy, at aperitif time.
Some passersby first heard the crackling of the trunk and branches, then a loud crash: in a few moments the pine fell to the ground, causing fear among those nearby. Two fire brigade teams and the local police of Riccione intervened on the spot.
The area has been cordoned off and secured; operations to complete the removal of the tree will continue today.
The one on Viale Ceccarini was the most demanding intervention carried out by the fire brigade after the bad weather. In total, there were five interventions for fallen trees or branches: one in Riccione, the others in the Rimini area. The incident brings attention back to the pines on the avenue: in recent days another centuries-old specimen, judged at risk of collapse by technicians, was cut down at the intersection with Viale Catullo.
