Bologna, September 16, 2026 – It’s official, Domenico Tedesco is no longer the coach of Bologna. The news had been in the air since late last night, as anticipated during the hectic hours following the summit between the now former rossoblù coach and the management of Saputo’s club.
The meeting that sealed the break
The meeting scheduled for yesterday morning was supposed to calm the waters between the Rossano coach and the club, but instead had the opposite effect, further highlighting some differing views and leading Fenucci, Di Vaio, and Sartori to quickly start evaluating Tedesco’s replacement.
The official announcement from Bologna
So this morning, as planned, the official announcement arrived with the club’s statement: “Bologna FC 1909 announces that it has relieved Domenico Tedesco of his duties as head coach of the First Team, to whom we extend heartfelt thanks for the work carried out with professionalism and competence. The Club wishes him and his collaborators the best professional fortunes.”
Tedesco’s first statements: “I am sorry”
The now former Bologna coach arrived at Casteldebole this morning, when training was scheduled to resume. Tedesco arrived on time and then left the training center, when he was intercepted by the press present, giving few statements but emphasizing an important aspect, that of the feeling with the city: “What we said to each other will remain between us. What I can say, however, is that the city welcomed me in an extraordinary way. I am very sorry. Nothing particular happened but I am indeed sorry, these people deserve a lot. Unfortunately, I was only twice in the stadium but the atmosphere, there and in the city, around the team is something very beautiful, so I am very sorry.”

Palladino arrives and signs until 2029
At the same time, Saputo’s club also announced the new coach, Raffaele Palladino, who will immediately take charge of the team to prepare for Saturday’s home game against Torino and will then have the opportunity to work with the group during the international break: “The technical leadership of the team is entrusted to Raffaele Palladino, who has signed a contract until June 30, 2029, and who will lead the first training session today at 4 pm at the training center.”
A three-year agreement then for the former coach of Monza, Fiorentina, and Atalanta, called to revive Bologna, still stuck at one point in the standings after 4 matchdays and with only two goals scored.
