Fakir, another video emerges. It was shot by a policeman: he is agitated and upset

Bologna, September 18, 2026 – Those images of Abderrahim Fakir in a confused state, barefoot, sometimes on the ground sometimes standing, are back under the prosecutor’s scrutiny. In particular, to extract the metadata of one video above all, which captures the phases preceding the actual containment action by the officers and at the climax of which the 42-year-old Moroccan died last July 19 while he was in the Pilastro district of Bologna.

Another video under the prosecutor’s scrutiny

Those now under scrutiny are the tracking information of the video – such as the content creator, creation date, or file size – which describe a data point or a dataset of the footage that the prosecutor now considers of interest regarding what was recorded with his own cell phone also by one of the two officers defended by lawyer Gabriele Bordoni: specifically the one not equipped with a bodycam.

Today the officer at the prosecutor’s office for that 28-second video

A data acquisition task for which the officer himself is expected today at the prosecutor’s office in Bologna to hand over the device and allow investigators to acquire such technical information on the 28-second video. An action that could also be a prelude to a broader collection of metadata related to all amateur videos, already reviewed by the prosecutor, to also crystallize the tracking information one by one. A technical action on a video already known to investigators but which supplements the larger investigative mosaic that continues to take shape within the 120-day limits set by the 45-bis model under which the proceedings are conducted.

What is the purpose of acquiring the metadata?

At the moment, the purpose of acquiring these metadata related to the video already in the hands of the investigators is unclear: a video similar to others already circulated by residents and which captures from the officers’ point of view the conditions of Abderrahim Fakir, in the grip of a psychiatric crisis, during the first arrival of law enforcement at the Pilastro and even before the call to 118.

Awaiting the results of the examinations

A further step forward while awaiting decisive results from the entire set of examinations supplementing the autopsy. From toxicological to histological analyses, on which the team of experts appointed by the prosecutor is still working with the possibility of reporting the first results to the parties at the beginning of next week. A meeting, however, that is not yet confirmed and that will necessarily lead to a first additional indication to what was returned by the autopsy initially and still by all other ongoing investigations.

The investigations on Fakir

Fakir indeed showed signs of compression in the lungs and the presence of blood in the respiratory organ. But also a complex health picture, with a series of pre-existing problems, in addition to the presence of cocaine in the body in quantities and times of intake all to be defined.

On the investigators’ table there are also technical checks on the content extracted from Fakir’s cell phone, as well as on the handcuffs used by the police officers, a T-shirt, and the three-dimensional surveys of the Pilastro area where the tragedy occurred: to retrieve that ‘film’ of the event along which the information related to the police officer’s video should also go.
