Bologna, September 18, 2026 – Just as the anthology ’I Am Lucio’, which celebrates the timeless genius of Lucio Dalla, is being presented, the cast for the artist who passed away in 2012 continues to take shape with the direction of Ambrogio Lo Giudice, who also wrote the screenplay together with Stefano Sardo. A work – whose filming has been scheduled for this September – that, as told by the director himself, aims to tell a more intimate Dalla, from childhood to one of the most significant songs of his career, Caruso. And so, if the already chosen actor for the protagonist will be Valentino Aquilano who has been carrying forward his vast repertoire with the tribute band ‘Ciao Lucio’ for years, the news of these hours is that a key character like Gianni Morandi will be played by the singer Tredici Pietro, son of the Boy from Monghidoro, in a new role as an actor.
The casting
The television film for Rai – produced by Compagnia Leone Cinematografica, which also involves our Film Commission – will be shot between Bologna and Sorrento, where casting for some “1980s style” roles has just opened these days. Already last July, the crew had based themselves at the Pio Institute for the Deaf and Mute on via della Braina, a location chosen to recreate the boarding school attended by the Bolognese singer-songwriter. “It is a perfect place because it still retains the architectural charm of the 1950s,” director Lo Giudice told our newspaper. And while the film takes shape, the singing begins again.
