Pianoro (Bologna), June 5, 2026 – A devastating accident occurred yesterday, at lunchtime, on the Fondovalle Savena, in the territory of Pianoro. A 19-year-old man, Stefano Prandi, resident in Bazzano, died after hours of agony and hospitalization at Maggiore hospital in intensive care. It was almost 12:30 PM.
The impact between the two vehicles
The 19-year-old, riding his beloved motorcycle, was traveling along the Fondovalle Savena in the direction of Loiano. In the opposite direction, on the ss65bis towards Bologna, a Fiat Panda driven by a 54-year-old woman was proceeding. At a certain point, in the territory of Pian di Macina, near MetalTarghe, the impact between the two vehicles occurred. The dynamics are still being examined by the police who intervened on the scene: it seems, at the moment, that the Panda had to turn to access MetalTarghe and, during the maneuver, would have impacted with the 19-year-old’s motorcycle that was approaching. Responsibilities are still being assessed by local police officers.
The motorcycle caught fire
What is certain, for now, is that the impact was such that the sound was heard even by residents of neighboring areas and, in the collision, the 19-year-old’s motorcycle caught fire. The smoke was visible from the entire industrial area of Pian di Macina. The young man, thrown from the motorcycle, fell violently to the ground. On the scene, alerted by other motorists who were passing through the area and witnessed the accident, 118 paramedics immediately arrived with various vehicles, two ambulances, and given the young man’s serious condition, also the air ambulance.

The 19-year-old taken by air ambulance to Maggiore
The 19-year-old motorcyclist had been taken to Maggiore with a maximum severity code where he was hospitalized in intensive care. A medium severity code for the 54-year-old woman, in shock, who was driving the car. Local firefighters also intervened at the scene of the accident, promptly extinguishing the fire of the two-wheeler before it spread, and the carabinieri in support of the local police.
Road closed for two hours
The road, in that section under Anas’s jurisdiction, was closed to traffic for two hours, from 1 PM to 3 PM, to allow first for rescue operations, then for local police investigations and the clearing of debris from the damaged vehicles: very little remained of the 19-year-old’s motorcycle after the fire. A very serious accident that follows by less than forty-eight hours the one in which, on June 2, in Valsamoggia, the 44-year-old Macedonian Fidan Hamiti lost his life.
