The precedents: Alice and Matteo, 11 and 12 years old
Just yesterday, July 17, little Alice Ferrari, 11 years old, passed away at the Gaslini hospital in Genoa after being trapped by her hair in a pool drain in Sestri Levante. A terribly similar dynamic to that which, at Easter, cost the life of Matteo Brandimarti, 12 years old, from San Benedetto del Tronto, who was trapped underwater and sucked in by the mechanism of a whirlpool tub inside a hotel in Pennabilli, in the Rimini area.
Just yesterday the mother, Nicoletta Sprecacè, made a heartfelt appeal to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for an urgent regulatory intervention and strict controls on facilities and aquatic systems, so that such avoidable tragedies never have to be mourned again.
