Amendolara, August 16, 2026 – Beaten to death. Ornella Forastefano, 46 years old, was found near death last night in front of the entrance of the Trebisacce hospital. It was around 3 a.m. when the doctors noticed her presence: they immediately assisted her but it was too late for her. Her body shows unmistakable signs of a brutal assault.

The missing partner: he had arrived in Bari
This would be yet another femicide. Immediately, suspicions focused on the woman’s partner, a 42-year-old Albanian national, who allegedly beat her in their home in Amendolara, then left her agonizing in front of the hospital. The manhunt reached the port of Bari, where the 42-year-old, fleeing to Albania, was located by the Carabinieri of the Cassano allo Ionio Company who are conducting the investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Castrovillari. He is now at the station to be questioned.
“Beaten to a pulp”
According to what has been learned, the man and the victim had a romantic relationship for a few months and had been living in the same apartment in Amendolara for about a month. According to an initial reconstruction, the 46-year-old, originally from Cassano allo Ionio and a mother, was reportedly driven by him to the hospital in his car. The 42-year-old allegedly abandoned her there where she was found full of bruises and with serious injuries in various parts of her body. Assisted by medical staff, there was nothing that could be done for her.

Motive, the jealousy angle
The investigators’ hypothesis is that Ornella Forastefano was beaten to death. Every element that has emerged must, of course, be verified. At the moment, investigators do not exclude any leads, although the most credible seems to be the passionate one and among the possible motives that of jealousy. However, these are ongoing investigations and are under strict confidentiality. Investigators are acquiring footage from surveillance cameras that could document what happened last night and are collecting accounts from witnesses.
