Modena, July 30, 2026 – Flora Tabanelli has already won many awards, Flora Tabanelli, despite her very young age. However, the one she received yesterday in Modena is at least original for the eighteen-year-old from Rocchetta Sandri, Modenese Apennines, and will hardly be repeatable: in a small ceremony that also intrigued many passersby and tourists who daily crowd the center of Modena, the Tabanelli received the “Basket of Excellence”, an honor awarded by the Albinelli Market consortium, a gastronomic and economic institution of the ducal city, to deserving personalities of the city. “Coming home is always wonderful – Flora emphasized – even if I can do it only a few times during the year.” With her were also the representatives of the consortium, the sports councilor of the Municipality of Modena Andrea Bortolamasi, and her mother Lucia, smiling and happy to have “her” champion by her side again.

“Knee recovery now complete”
Flora spoke at length about the recovery after the operation on her right knee: “I have been working for four months and now I can say that the recovery is complete. However, I am not in a hurry to get back on skis, I will do it between the end of September and the beginning of October but calmly: there is no point in rushing now only to risk some complications. Better to do it when I feel completely safe”.
High school diploma and driver’s license
Flora’s summer, after the bronze medal at the Milan-Cortina Olympics, was full of commitments: “True – Flora smiles – I did a few things after the Games: the high school diploma, the driver’s license, I was not idle. Now I am always working, between Livigno, the Fassa Valley, and the National team staff who keep an eye on me with gym sessions, but fortunately at least in summer I manage to carve out some time for myself”.
The season
“The races will start in November with the World Cup, and then there will be the World Championships. For the first time I will face a competition, the World Championships indeed, as the reigning champion but for now I am not thinking about it”.

“As I said, it is always nice to come home. Especially to the Rifugio del Lago Scaffaiolo, the one managed by my parents which is the place of my childhood heart. From Friday evening we will start a small tour there with Miro”.
Tabanelli tour
Flora talks about what has been called precisely the “Tabanelli Tour”, a three-day event of evenings, awards, and chats organized for the siblings Miro and Flora Tabanelli by the three municipalities that “compete” for them. That of Lizzano in Belvedere in the Bologna area, where Flora and Miro started skiing at Corno alle Scale, and those of Sestola and Fanano which are the two municipalities where they live and grew up. The tour will start on Friday, July 31 at the Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi at Lago Scaffaiolo, continue on Saturday, August 1 in Piazza della Vittoria in Sestola, and conclude with a big evening in Piazza Corsini in Fanano on Sunday, August 2.
