Castelnovo di Sotto (Reggio Emilia), August 1, 2026 – For almost two years she allegedly transformed her home into a real “operational base” from which to harass her neighbors, a mother and daughter, with threats, insults, harassment, and continuous acts of intimidation. The protagonist of the story is a 68-year-old woman, arrested by the Carabinieri of Castelnovo di Sotto in execution of a custody order in prison issued by the Gip of the Court of Reggio Emilia at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office.

The Carabinieri arrested the stalker
The escalation since 2024: threats, deafening noises, throwing food and animal droppings
According to the investigations coordinated by the Reggio Emilia Prosecutor’s Office, the woman allegedly began the persecutory behavior in September 2024, shortly after moving into the building. The victims, a 58-year-old mother and her 28-year-old daughter, living in the apartment below, were subjected to an escalation of harassment: deafening noises deliberately made at any time of day and night, throwing food scraps, dog hair, liquids, animal droppings and even glass fragments on balconies and windowsills, as well as continuous verbal assaults and death threats.
The victims subjected to a “serious and persistent state of anxiety”
Among the phrases attributed to the suspect are expressions such as: “He who laughs last laughs best, I’ll show you” and “We’ll see who lives last.” A behavior that, according to investigators, caused the two women a serious and persistent state of anxiety, with frequent panic attacks, crying spells, insomnia, and a constant fear for their safety.
How the habits of the two threatened women had changed
The consequences on the daily lives of the victims were heavy. Mother and daughter radically changed their habits, going so far as to park the car far from the condominium, to be accompanied every morning and evening by the partner of the older woman, and to live at home trying not to be noticed: speaking in a very low voice, keeping the shutters always down, and even giving up turning on the air conditioners to avoid the neighbor perceiving their presence.
The stalker was already under house arrest with an electronic bracelet
The Carabinieri’s investigations also revealed that the 68-year-old woman was already under house arrest with a electronic bracelet, by order of the Court of Vicenza, for similar stalking episodes against other neighbors at her previous residence. According to the investigators, the forced stay in the home worsened her behavior, using the apartment and balcony as a vantage point and action base to intensify the harassment. Upon receiving the judge’s order, the officers of the Castelnovo di Sotto station executed the measure, transferring the woman to prison, where she remains at the disposal of the judicial authority.
