Cesenatico, August 1, 2026 – A group of serial scammers managed to sell holidays in two non-existent residences to dozens of tourist families. This happened in the center of Cesenatico, where since early this morning there has been a significant influx of holidaymakers at the beginning of via Giovanni Pascoli at the intersection with viale Leonardo da Vinci.
In place of the structure, an insurance company
Everyone had booked a holiday starting from August 1, but the residence does not exist; at number 2A there is actually an insurance company, Graziani-Romani Assicurazioni. As the hours passed, the crowd of people with suitcases in hand grew, reaching 90 families, with the faces of mothers and fathers shifting from disbelief to dismay, showing signs of anger and disappointment.
The first day of vacation turned into a nightmare
It is understandable because what was supposed to be the first day of vacation turned into a nightmare for families coming from various provinces of Italy and also from abroad, convinced they had booked a residence in Cesenatico. Upon their arrival, there was nothing like what they had seen online.
No trace of Residence Angelini and Da Andrea
This is a large-scale online scam involving a certain Andrea Angelini, a name that could also be fictitious, and two accommodation facilities, Residence Angelini and Residence Da Andrea, which do not exist. At one point, the scammer yesterday redirected the phone number of one of the two residences to that of a hotel in Cattolica, whose owner is unaware of everything and did not understand why people were calling him for bookings in Cesenatico.
The accommodation rented to 90 families is actually a house for sale
The accommodation rented in the non-existent residence is located on the fifth floor of the building on via Giovanni Pascoli, but in reality it is a house for sale, which was advertised as a residence for rent, with the scammers using photographs published online in real estate listings.
Besides the photos, Residence Da Andrea and Residence Angelini are described with details about the services on seemingly reliable platforms. It is a mechanism carefully designed to make the residence appear credible until the moment of payment. The Guardia di Finanza, Carabinieri, Police, and local Police intervened on site. All victims were advised to contact the Postal Police.
