The alarm was triggered from Pesaro

The alarm was triggered around 7 in the morning in Pesaro, where a white BMW with Ukrainian plates had been reported for extremely dangerous driving, characterized by lane invasions and vehicles being rammed in Metaurilia. In Fano, the same car, caught on cameras, also ‘targeted’ pedestrians before dodging them. But it was in Senigallia that the most violent and intense climax was experienced.

The car entered the Senigallia area at reckless speed

Around 7:30, the car entered the Senigallia area at reckless speed, traveling along the northern stretch of the state road. At that moment the car was heading south but dangerously occupying the opposite lane. A patrol of the Carabinieri’s Radiomobile Unit in Senigallia, having received the search notice, intercepted the killer vehicle. The officers, with extreme promptness and composure, first managed to cross the BMW’s path forcing it back into its own lane, and then to overtake it to get in front in an attempt to block its way and definitively stop the chase.

The driver violently rear-ended the Carabinieri patrol car

The driver, instead of stopping, accelerated and violently rear-ended the Carabinieri patrol car. Immediately after the impact, the man abandoned the still smoking BMW cabin and began a desperate foot chase along the street.

The chase and the struggle

The officers immediately launched into pursuit, managing to catch and stop him after about 250 meters of running, near Villa Torlonia. At that point a fierce struggle broke out. The man, in a state of obvious and intense psychophysical agitation, began to thrash violently, biting a carabiniere on the finger and forcing him to seek medical treatment afterwards.

The taser to immobilize him

In an attempt to contain him, the officers tried to use the taser to immobilize him: it is unknown whether the dart hit the man who, in fact, continued not to stop. Only with difficulty did the Carabinieri manage to immobilize him on the ground, while an ambulance from the 118 emergency service arrived to support on site.

The medical staff sedated the man

The medical staff sedated the man to safely transfer him. At the time of loading, his vital signs were normal, but the situation deteriorated a few minutes after arrival at the Emergency Room of Senigallia hospital, where the 37-year-old went into cardiac arrest and died. The man was traveling without documents: identification was only possible in the afternoon thanks to fingerprint matching.
