Bologna, August 3, 2026 – Mourning at Bologna Business School: in the tragic plane crash that occurred in Peru, among the 13 victims is Paolo Gianturco, a professor who taught in the Master in Finance and Fintech at the campus on via degli Scalini. The 59-year-old from Monza was on vacation with family and friends: in the crash and fire of the aircraft (a Cessna Caravan 208B, single-engine turboprop) his sons Pietro, 18, and Matteo, 24, and his wife Cristina Maria Bianco, 57, also lost their lives. Together, they had just finished admiring the Nazca Lines archaeological area, a World Heritage Site and one of the most visited tourist sites in the world, through a scenic tour, when, on the return to Pisco airport, the tragedy happened. Of the 13 lives lost, eleven were tourists.

The news has gone around the world, reaching the Two Towers, where Gianturco, with an almost thirty-year career in the world of economics, had been teaching for at least eight years. He was one of the pillars of the Master in Finance and Fintech at Bbs. Leading the program, Professor Emanuele Bajo, who recalls his colleague still in shock: “A great loss both professionally and personally – emphasizes the course director –. Paolo was not just a teacher: we collaborated with him for years on the development of the program.” We are talking about “at least eight years of working together.”
