Bologna, August 11, 2026 — A night that started with a report of loud music turned into an assault on a local police officer, who ended up in the Emergency Room with a displaced nasal septum fracture and a 25-day prognosis. It happened on via Zamboni, where a man was arrested on charges of resistance, violence, and aggravated personal injury to a public official. The intervention took place around 2:15 AM, when a patrol arrived to check the presence of a group of people listening to loud music through an amplified speaker. At the first request from the officers, the music had stopped, but after a few minutes, it resumed with the same intensity.
Two men confronted the officers
At that point, the operators returned to the scene to contest the irregularity and proceed with the seizure of the speaker. During the intervention, however, two men, according to the local police, clearly intoxicated, began to have a provocative and obstructive attitude towards the officers. The two also reportedly recorded the operations with their cell phones, refusing to cooperate with the officers. Additional patrols arrived to support to manage the situation. At the time of identification and transfer to a service vehicle, one of the two men, a 28-year-old of Peruvian origin, strongly resisted both physically and verbally. The man allegedly refused to follow the officers, directing threats and insults at them, until he broke free and struck one of the officers in the face with a violent headbutt.

The injured officer was immediately taken to the hospital. Examinations confirmed a displaced nasal septum fracture, with a 25-day prognosis. Meanwhile, the attacker was apprehended and arrested on charges of resistance, violence, and aggravated personal injury to a public official. The young man has a criminal record for property crimes and drug possession. The situation reportedly did not calm down even in the following phases. Taken to the police station for fingerprinting, the man allegedly continued to maintain a hostile attitude, refusing to undergo the procedures, which were later completed in the morning at the Local Police headquarters. Database checks also revealed several prior criminal records against him, related to property crimes and drug possession.

Arrest validated with mandatory reporting
The on-duty public prosecutor was informed, and the arrested man was held in the security cells on via Ferrari awaiting his appearance before the judge. The hearing led to the validation of the arrest and the application of the mandatory reporting measure.
The support of the municipal administration
The episode was addressed by the councilor for Integrated Urban Security Matilde Madrid, who expressed the administration’s support for the injured officer: “On behalf of myself and the municipal administration, I express support for the injured officer and wish him a speedy recovery. Our thanks go to the local police for the complex work they perform every day in service of the city, with professionalism and a sense of duty.” Madrid also reported that Mayor Matteo Lepore personally contacted the officer to convey the administration’s support and thank him for his commitment during the intervention.
