Rimini, July 12, 2026 – This morning the Italian motorcycle champion, Marco Bezzecchi, born in 1998, from Rimini and Aprilia rider, was operated on at the Sassuolo hospital after a bad crash at 140 kilometers per hour during the qualifying at Sachsenring, Germany, which caused him to miss the German GP.

The Aprilia rider was operated on in Sassuolo on the left collarbone by Professor Giuseppe Porcellini, head of Orthopedics and an international reference for shoulder surgery, and as communicated by Aprilia, the surgery “was successfully completed, the complete and displaced fracture was indeed reduced and stabilized.”

Along with Professor Porcellini, in the operating room were also orthopedic colleagues Giorgini, Donà, and Selleri and anesthetist Sabrina Prampolini. The operation started around 8:15 am and Bezzecchi returned to the ward around 11 am, assisted by some family members. The rider had arrived yesterday afternoon in Sassuolo, after landing by helicopter in Bologna.
He will now have to follow a physiotherapy path to be able to return to racing as soon as possible.
Recovery times: “We hope to have him on track for Silverstone”
The Noale factory hopes to have Bez back on track at Silverstone after the summer break (August 7-9). “Marco Bezzecchi was operated on this morning – Aprilia writes in a statement -.
