Bologna, August 14, 2026 – “We wish to heartily thank all those who, in these days of deep sorrow, have wanted to make us feel their closeness and their condolences. The many expressions of esteem, the messages, the memories on the streets and in the squares, have been a precious comfort for us and have once again shown us the measure of the affection that accompanied Francesco throughout his life.”
From Pavana to via Paolo Fabbri: many demonstrations of affection
These are the words that the family of Francesco Guccini, who passed away last August 6 at the age of 86, wanted to entrust to a long message, published yesterday on the artist’s official website. A message born to thank all the people who, in these days of grief, have wanted to testify their affection towards a singer-songwriter capable, with his music and words, of accompanying and marking entire generations.

An affection impossible to contain, which like an invisible thread continues to unite the hearts of many fans throughout Italy, as shown by the many initiatives of these days: from the pilgrimage to Pavana to the gathering in via Paolo Fabbri 43, a street that in recent days has been filled with flowers, bottles of wine, and notes left by those who wanted to pay tribute to Francesco Guccini after his passing.

The family: “Thanks to all those who wanted to share a thought or a memory with us”
“We thank the relatives, friends, the community of Pavana, the institutions, and all those who, even without having known him personally, wanted to share with us a thought, a memory, or simply a gesture of presence – reads the family’s message – A heartfelt thanks for understanding and respecting our desire to live these days in the closest intimacy, accompanying our grief with discretion, sensitivity, and respect. It was a form of silent closeness that we deeply appreciated.”

Guccini rests in the Pavana cemetery
Now Francesco Guccini rests in the Pavana cemetery next to his parents, Ester and Ferruccio. “Unable to respond, in these days, to each of you, we wish in this way to send to all our most sincere gratitude – concludes the family – Knowing that Francesco will continue to live, not only in his words, his books, and his songs, but also in the memory of so many people is, at this moment, a source of great emotion and comfort.”
