Montese (Modena), August 17, 2026 – Breakthrough in the murder of Daouda Sangarè, the 31-year-old originally from Ivory Coast who was the victim of the brutal attack that took place last August 2 in Montese. The man was stabbed to death in his home on via Righi. The night before, he had been at the town festival. Late this afternoon, the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command of Modena, under the delegation of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, arrested the victim’s young wife.

The officers in fact executed the order to apply the precautionary measure of custody in prison, issued by the judge against the woman seriously suspected of the crime of voluntary manslaughter.
The suspect was taken to prison pending the scheduling of the guarantee interrogation by the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Modena Court.

Who the victim was
Daouda Sangarè, originally from Guinea but born and raised in Ivory Coast. He worked as a welder. Unfortunately, when the emergency services arrived, there was nothing more to be done for him: he had been reached by the blade of a knife in vital parts of the body. Daouda had been living in Montese for several years, but had only recently arrived on via Righi, about a month ago. He had moved from the hamlet of Salto where he worked as a welder at the Bernabei company.
A friend’s memory
“Dao stayed away from trouble, he was a very quiet guy – a friend said right after the murder – he was certainly not someone you would easily argue with, in fact, he led a fairly reserved life, all home and work. I also go out little, but when we met, we would stop to chat and joke. A great person, I can’t imagine anyone who could have held such a grudge against him to the point of killing him.”
