Riccione, August 19, 2026 – The wolf appears in the city and Riccione takes action. The Municipality has established the temporary closure during evening and night hours of 3 city parks following the confirmed presence of a wolf specimen in the urban area.
The access ban in three parks: here are which ones
The ordinance was issued by the mayor, Daniela Angelini, upon the precise and formal request of the Regional Wildlife Service, an institution with which all the methods of closure and perimeter fencing of the affected parks were thoroughly agreed upon. The measure, effective today (August 19) until next September 3, provides for an absolute ban on access and transit from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. within the green areas of Resistenza Park, Chico Mendes Park, and Olivetani Park.
Monitoring also in other areas of the city
The competent authorities are continuing monitoring other areas of the city where specimen sightings have occurred. The closure of the parks is primarily aimed at ensuring the safety of people in conjunction with specific actions mainly during evening and night hours by the Regional Wildlife Service aimed at driving the animal away from the urban center of Riccione.

The ‘Cinema in the park’ series will take place in a specially fenced area
Within Olivetani Park, the “Cinema in the park” series will continue regularly: the screenings will not undergo any changes because the event takes place in a specially fenced area, a condition that guarantees the complete absence of any interactions with the operations planned to drive the animal away. Regarding Chico Mendes Park, the ban concerns the green strip between Rio Melo, State Road 16 near the Roman Bridge, and the houses adjacent to the Study Center. For Olivetani Park, the interdiction includes the sector between the amphitheater and the cemetery, bounded by Viale Einaudi and Rio Melo, and the area between State Road 16, the old cemetery, and the canal. In Resistenza Park, evening transit will be prohibited throughout the green area, except for the space in front of the basketball court and the nearby farmhouse on Viale Montebianco.

The Municipality recommends avoiding the abandonment of organic waste
The municipal administration also recommends residents to avoid abandoning organic waste outside containers, not leaving pet food outside homes, carefully guarding their pets, and keeping areas adjacent to houses free from dense vegetation. For violators of the access bans in the areas delimited by the ordinance, administrative fines ranging from a minimum of 25 to a maximum of 500 euros are provided.
