Rimini, August 19, 2026 – Patrizia Reggiani is feeling better and has left the ‘Infermi’ hospital in Rimini. After two weeks of hospitalization and a clinical condition that initially caused great concern, the 77-year-old ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci was transferred the day before yesterday to a hospital in Lombardy, near her place of residence, where she will continue the course of treatment started in Romagna.
The transfer
The transfer was decided in agreement with the family members, in light of the improvement in her condition. Reggiani is out of danger and the clinical picture allowed the medical staff to organize the transfer from the Rimini facility to the one in Lombardy, where she will continue to be cared for.
The illness in Riccione
This closes the most delicate phase of a case that began on August 3 in Riccione, where Patrizia Reggiani was on vacation. The 77-year-old had arrived on the Riviera at the end of July and was staying with her assistant in a four-star hotel in the city.
The illness struck her late in the morning, while she was on the suite’s terrace. It was her assistant who immediately realized the seriousness of the situation and called for help.
The rescue
A call to 118 was made from the hotel and medical personnel intervened on site, who after initial care arranged for emergency transfer to the Infermi hospital in Rimini.
The condition appeared serious and Reggiani was admitted to intensive care, where she remained under close monitoring. The exact causes of the illness were kept strictly confidential. Among the circumstances initially considered were prolonged sun exposure and high temperatures. In the following days, the first encouraging signs arrived.
The improvement
The condition, while still delicate, began to show gradual improvement, with no new elements suggesting a worsening.
Now the turning point. The condition has improved and Reggiani is no longer in life-threatening danger. On Monday afternoon it was therefore possible to organize the transfer, allowing her to move closer to home and continue her medical care there.
Who is Patrizia Reggiani
Reggiani, born in Vignola on December 2, 1948, became one of the most well-known figures in Italian news. In 1972 she married Maurizio Gucci, grandson of the founder of the maison, from whom she later separated. Gucci was murdered in Milan on March 27, 1995. Reggiani was convicted as the instigator of her ex-husband’s murder and was released in 2016, after about 17 years spent in prison.
