Rimini, August 23, 2026 – Tragic accident today on the A14, in the stretch between Riccione and Rimini south, heading towards Bologna. The crash occurred around 11:30 AM, about one kilometer after the Montefeltro service area, and involved a large displacement motorcycle. One person died, while another was rescued in very serious condition.

The reconstruction of the accident
According to an initial reconstruction, the motorcycle carrying a man and a woman reportedly rear-ended a Kia Sportage in the third lane. It seems that the traffic was backed up. Following the accident, the man died, while the woman was transported by air ambulance to Cesena in serious condition.
Closure of the highway section
Two ambulances, the emergency medical vehicle, and the 118 helicopter that took off from Ravenna intervened on site. The highway police temporarily blocked traffic to allow rescue operations and investigations.

Disruptions and kilometer-long queues during peak return travel
Severe repercussions on traffic, in the midst of the peak return travel: Autostrade per l’Italia reports over two kilometers of queue, increasing, starting from the Cattolica toll booth towards Bologna.
