Head-on collision

The tourist was traveling in a Citroen with her family when, for reasons still under investigation, the car collided head-on with a van along the Olbia-Arzachena road. The impact was very violent.

The woman is in critical condition

The 49-year-old was rescued and urgently transported to the hospital in Olbia, where her condition appeared critical from the start. In the late afternoon, brain death was confirmed, a consequence of the irreversible injuries sustained in the impact.

Family members also hospitalized

La Nuova Sardegna reports that the woman was on the island with her husband (driving) and two children, aged 13 and 7 years.

The other family members who were in the car were also hospitalized, but are not believed to be in life-threatening condition. The circumstances of the violent crash are under investigation by the Olbia traffic police.
