Fermo, August 24, 2026 – Disruption on the A14 Highway Bologna-Taranto, where around 8:30 PM there was a queue of about 13 kilometers in the section between Grottammare and Fermo-Porto San Giorgio, heading towards Ancona.

The slowdown is due to work on the San Biagio viaduct, for the maintenance of an unscheduled joint that became necessary for safety reasons, which started in the afternoon and is not yet finished.
The bypass as a solution to traffic gridlock
After the kilometers of queue formed around 2 PM, the setup of a lane change is now underway to ease the pressure on traffic. The goal is to allow the opening of two lanes northbound and one southbound, using part of the opposite carriageway. Personnel from the Porto San Giorgio Subsection of the Highway Police are on site, engaged in traffic management.
For the distribution of water and assistance to motorists stuck in the long queue, volunteers from the Civil Protection are present.
Up to 14 Km of queue
The situation was already heavy in the afternoon: around 4:45 PM there were about 8 kilometers of queue between San Benedetto del Tronto and Fermo, with traffic forced to pass on a single lane (at the construction site, at kilometer 285.7).
The prolongation of the work on a day characterized by the return from vacations and the resumption of work activities progressively worsened the disruptions up to creating 14 kilometers of queue.
With the opening of the bypass that opens two lanes northbound, relief in traffic flow is hoped for.
