Reggio Emilia, 26/08/2026 – First he tried to hurt her by throwing an ashtray at her, then a wine glass. Hit on the thigh, the broken glass cut an artery: the woman is now hospitalized in critical condition while the man, 61 years old, was arrested by the carabinieri.
The incident happened last night, in Reggio city, in the home where husband and wife live. He was the one who called for help. The reconstruction of what happened is also based on his initial admissions and on the statements given by the victim just before receiving first aid from the 118 operators.
The two were having a very heated argument, related to jealousy and work issues. At first he threw an ashtray at her, but it did not hit her. Then, while she was sitting in the garden, he threw a wine glass made of glass at her.
The 53-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition at Santa Maria Nuova, in life-threatening condition and with reserved prognosis due to a lacerated-contused wound with severe arterial bleeding.

Once they arrived at the home, the officers found the husband. Realizing the severe heavy blood loss, it was the 61-year-old himself who called for help.
The inspection allowed to find and document ceramic shards in the courtyard and blood-soaked glass fragments in the garden, in the immediate vicinity of the chair where the woman was, as well as large blood traces on the ground and on the victim’s shoes.
In light of the flagrante delicto, the man was arrested for aggravated personal injury and placed at the disposal of the Reggio Emilia Prosecutor’s Office.
