Bologna, August 27, 2026 – The handcuffs were snapped on yesterday morning, at the end of a series of investigations carried out by the agents of the mobile squad, against a 54-year-old man from Bologna stopped in execution of a precautionary custody measure in prison issued by the judge of the Bologna Court at the request of the prosecutor for a series of robberies against the elderly committed in early August.

The robberies in via Samoggia and in piazza Bonazzi: the man had targeted two elderly women
The 54-year-old is indeed accused of having committed at least two robberies against victims over sixty-five years old. The two contested episodes date back to August 4 and 7, respectively in via Samoggia and in piazza Bonazzi, always in the Barca area. Here, in similar ways, the 54-year-old targeted two elderly women, first hitting them violently on the back of the head and then snatching their bags before fleeing with the loot. The two elderly women also suffered injuries in the struggle considered recoverable in five and seven days of prognosis.
He told the agents he “hates the elderly”: he is now in Dozza prison
From here started the investigations of the mobile squad, who, by viewing the images from the surveillance cameras, managed to identify the suspect (who acted with an uncovered face). The police also carried out a search in the house of the 54-year-old suspect, where the agents found a T-shirt compatible with the one worn by the man captured while committing the robberies.
The man, during the reading of the order, even declared to the agents that he “hates the elderly”. The 54-year-old also has specific previous convictions, for which he had been detained until 2023. Now the man has been arrested and transferred to Dozza prison in execution of the precautionary measure against him.
