Yesterday, the Iraqi citizen went to the public security police station offices to file a complaint against the alleged attacker. Today, the leader of Futuro Nazionale, General Roberto Vannacci, also distanced himself, stating that he has always been against violence unless justified by the need for defense. “This,” adds Vannacci, “does not seem to be the case.” The most significant problems, however, could arise precisely from the complaint filed by the Iraqi citizen for personal injuries. The whole story originated from the cleaning of the area around the Madonna del Suffragio church, in the Ponterotto district, near the Caritas. During the operation carried out Saturday morning by PicenAmbiente workers, the tent in which the Iraqi citizen kept his personal belongings was removed and then disposed of as waste. From that episode, the man’s protest arose, resulting in several traffic blockades until the assault that occurred on Saturday evening. For the record, yesterday morning the local police returned to the Ponterotto district to remove another six or seven homeless people, among whom the Iraqi citizen was found again.
