Bologna, September 2, 2026 – Fear on the A1 in the evening of today at the height of Sasso Marconi: a semi-trailer suddenly caught fire, raising a column of flames and smoke around it.
Six teams from the Provincial Fire Brigade Command, coming from the central headquarters, the Dante Zini, Bazzano, Monzuno detachments and with the support of 2 tankers, intervened on the A1 motorway between the toll booths of Sasso Marconi Nord and Sasso Marconi (Florence direction) following the fire of a articulated vehicle transporting household appliances.
The driver is unharmed
The driver of the heavy vehicle managed to get out of the vehicle independently before the flames spread. The extinguishing and securing operations of the area did not require the closure of the affected motorway section as the heavy vehicle was stopped on the emergency lane at the time of the fire.
The teams that intervened also had to deal with extinguishing the vegetation present on the road embankment affected by the spread of the fire. The patrols of the Highway Police and the personnel of the Autostrade company also intervened at the scene for traffic management and relevant investigations.

The queue that had formed immediately after the fire then dissolved when the operations were completed.
The driver of the heavy vehicle fortunately remained unharmed and no injuries were reported.
