Casalfiumanese (Bologna), September 4, 2026 – A show lasting almost two hours, concluded with a standing ovation, and then the long queue for selfies and book signings. This was how the evening went for the former Report host, Sigfrido Ranucci, yesterday in Casalfiumanese to present his ‘Diary of a Trapeze Artist’ in the final event of the ‘Casale Cineforum’ series. After the recent controversies with Brothers of Italy, and the investigation into the attack carried out by his friend Valter Lavitola, there was apprehension about the journalist’s arrival at the Villa Manusardi park. In the end, however, everything went smoothly thanks to the work of the police, carabinieri, local police, and pro loco.
About a thousand people present
The audience was numerous. The 750 chairs arranged by the organizers were sold out, and several hundred people watched the show standing or sitting on the lawn for a total of about a thousand attendees, with long queues both at the entrance and exit of the show. Ranucci’s staff, via social media, raised the figure to “over two thousand” attendees. On stage, there is “my story. I’ll show you how many times I resisted,” said the journalist responding to the question about the meaning of his performance. It is the story of “35 years of attempts to replace me,” against me, also as “Report host. It always went badly for him, this time it went well, for now,” Ranucci added.

Discovering the book: between anecdotes and unexpected encounters
‘Diary of a Trapeze Artist’ is a journey through the lesser-known episodes of his professional and private life, between investigations and unexpected encounters. Starting from the major journalistic investigations of Report, Ranucci weaves on stage a narrative made of true testimonies, borderline characters, and borderline situations, often escaped the spotlight but crucial in determining the success (and risk) of his work. A vagabond who helps him realize the scoop on Falluja and white phosphorus, a taxi driver who guides him to Tanzi’s secret art gallery, a Swiss producer who saves him from a political plot. And then: a robber from Puglia, a vice principal complicit in the investigation, a teacher with a camera ready at the right moment, a bodyguard who thwarts internal sabotage at Rai. In the end, as mentioned at the beginning, applause and long queues of those who wanted to conclude the evening with a photo with Ranucci or getting the journalist’s latest book signed.
