Rome, September 6, 2026 – The toll of the plane crash that occurred this evening in Miami is at least five dead and several injured, where an Amazon Boeing 767 cargo plane went off the runway during landing at the international airport. According to authorities, the aircraft hit several cars on a road surrounding the airport and caught fire. A thick column of black smoke is visible from various parts of the city. This was reported by the Federal Aviation Administration. A video showed smoke coming from the Boeing 767. The Federal Aviation Administration has ordered a temporary halt to flights at the airport.

The toll: 5 dead and 5 injured
“The teams that arrived on the scene found a plane that had caught fire following the accident, with high flames and visible smoke,” reads a post on X from the Miami-Dade Fire Department. More than 60 fire teams intervened to extinguish the fire, a department spokesperson told CNN.
“Five people lost their lives and another five were injured,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava during a press conference at the airport. Three of the injured are in critical condition, while the other two were taken to a local hospital, specified Miami-Dade Fire Chief Ray Jadallah.

The accident
In the evening Amazon confirmed that the plane that went off the runway while trying to land at Miami airport was one of theirs. The company is gathering information and working with authorities to understand what happened. According to an initial reconstruction of events, the plane collided with some aircraft while leaving the runway.
