Pesaro, September 8, 2026 – A refrain “we will return to the masters and cut off their heads, oh there oh there, communism and freedom” sung by some participants at “Amelia” the festival of the Young Democrats at the Arci club of Villa Fastiggi, historic section of the PCI, is causing controversy in Pesaro, with videos on social media, last Sunday during the day when a meeting was held with former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and MEP Matteo Ricci.
Antonio Baldelli (Fdi): “Ideological hatred”
“We are not facing a harmless folk song sung lightly – attacks the Brothers of Italy MP Antonio Baldelli -. Words have weight, especially when spoken in a political context. Evoking the cutting off of the ‘masters’ heads recalls a rhetoric of ideological hatred and political violence that belongs to the darkest pages of our recent history”. “Is this the climate in which the broad field intends to build its program? Fighting the ‘masters’ with heads to be cut off?”, asks Baldelli who also targets Conte and Ricci: “those who aspire to govern the country and its institutions have the duty to unequivocally reject any language that evokes violence against entrepreneurs, employers or alleged social opponents”.
Bernardi, Pd group leader: “We are not ashamed of our history, are you?”
“MP Baldelli attacks our Festa dell’Unità, our history, our party – replies Riccardo Bernardi, Democratic group leader in the Pesaro City Council and secretary of the Young Democrats Marche -. It amuses me because he had to come all the way to Villa Fastiggi to a Pd festival to see some politics and young people getting involved. It is a pity because instead of dealing, as the Young Democrats do, with the cost of living every day, he decides to attack them for a skirmish, a video. We are not ashamed of our history, are you?”.
