Ravenna, September 9, 2026 – An afternoon of checks in the heart of the city turned into a timely intervention to protect animals. The officers of the Ravenna Command managed to track down those responsible for a dog left unattended inside a parked vehicle, using urban monitoring systems.
The analysis of the footage and the hunt for the German couple
The alarm went off around 2 in the afternoon, when a car with a German license plate was noticed on Viale Farini, regularly parked in the blue spaces, inside which there was a Maremma sheepdog. To find out who was using the vehicle, the officers relied on the work of the Technical Section of the Local Police. Through the analysis of the footage recorded by the security cameras present in the area, the police reconstructed the path taken on foot by the occupants of the car, who turned out to be a couple of visitors from Germany. Around 5 in the evening the two were identified while walking in the historic center and escorted back to the vehicle’s parking spot.
A fine of 150 euros was issued
The dog’s owner was issued an administrative fine of 150 euros based on what is established by the municipal regulation for the protection and welfare of animals, a rule that explicitly prohibits leaving dogs unattended in the cabins of motor vehicles. To verify the animal’s physical condition, the intervention of the AUSL veterinary staff was requested, who carried out the necessary health checks and prepared the clinical service documentation.

And also a fine for expired parking
During the checks, a ticket was also issued for failure to comply with the traffic code: Azimut staff, called by the officers themselves, fined the car because the parking time indicated on the ticket had long expired.
