Cesena, September 12, 2026 – A tragic fate just a few meters from the front door. This is how Amedeo Rossi, 78 years old, died late Friday evening, victim of a dramatic road accident that occurred around 11:30 PM in San Mauro in Valle, a district of Cesena.
The terrible crash
The elderly man was on his Honda SH scooter and was traveling along via Zavalloni — the same street where he lived — probably heading towards his home. At the parking lot serving the parish church and the nearby local club, the tragedy occurred. At that moment, a Fiat 500, driven by a 61-year-old woman from Cesena, was leaving the parking area just as it was closing. For reasons still under investigation, the driver did not notice the approaching scooter. The impact between the two vehicles was violent: Rossi was thrown off the seat and the motorcycle fell to the ground.
The rescue
The rescue operation was immediately activated. The 118 emergency medical team arrived at the scene with an ambulance and a medical car, accompanied by the Fire Brigade. Unfortunately, for the 78-year-old, there was nothing more to be done: the doctors could only confirm the death on the spot due to the injuries sustained.
To carry out the legal surveys and reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident, patrols from the Cesena, Mercato Saraceno, and Montiano Local Police intervened. The on-duty Public Prosecutor, Andrea Marchini, ordered the judicial seizure of both vehicles involved to allow for expert investigations. The victim’s body remained respectfully covered at the crash site, a short distance from home, awaiting the magistrate’s clearance for removal.
