Venice, September 12, 2026 – “An assault by far-right figures, including the Bolognese influencer JollyTime, first with pepper spray, then physical.” This is the complaint by Marta Battistella, city councilor of Venice for the Alliance Greens and Left. The assault “would have taken place near Campo San Bortolomio, in Rialto, when Avs militants noticed the group of right-wing figures – continues Battistella’s statement –. The assault would have been triggered by the latter, also using pepper spray. Six people, including Municipality councilor Giovanni Fassioli, were taken to the emergency room with various bruises and a prognosis of several days.

“This is a very serious episode – comments Battistella – that cannot be dismissed as a simple brawl or an isolated incident. The same ‘influencer’ (referring to JollyTime, ed.) had been reported less than 24 hours ago for insults to Bologna. We cannot accept that our city, in broad daylight, can be the scene of fascist violence, mob assaults, and intimidation without any reason.”

Fratoianni: “Identify those responsible”
Solidarity from Avs secretary Nicola Fratoianni: “We hope that the law enforcement of the Veneto capital identify those responsible and ensure that similar episodes do not happen again.”

Then the appeal to Minister Matteo Piantedosi: “In Parliament we will present an inquiry on the matter, and to the top of law enforcement we ask for clear and firm decisions against the neo-fascist organizations that impunely throughout Italy are responsible for acts of violence,” he concludes.
