Imola, August 23, 2026 – “I am devastated by grief, there are no words to describe what we are feeling.” These are the words of the father of 32-year-old Riccardo Amadori, who was involved in a tragic fatal work accident. “My son was a unique boy, period,” adds the still shocked parent.

There are tragedies, especially those that happen at work, that are difficult to tell. Because behind a work-related death there is not only the cold report of a dynamic to be reconstructed. There is the drama of a life cut short, of a family, as in this case, that loses the daily routine of shared work every day. All those little gestures that vanish in an instant.
A tragic story
Riccardo Amadori had his whole life ahead of him. He was a young entrepreneur, owner of a sole proprietorship specialized in earthmoving and excavation. His existence was tied to work, involving heavy machinery, in the family business. Riccardo died the other day in the area in front of the warehouse on via Mezzocolle in Imola, while performing routine maintenance on a JCB 65-R1 tracked excavator. He had lifted the cabin to reach the internal parts and the engine. Then, in an instant, something went terribly wrong. The cabin reportedly detached from its designated seat, striking him violently on the head.

The father was there. He witnessed the unthinkable and, as often happens in the cruelest tragedies, could only watch and call for help. The emergency services arrived quickly, the air ambulance transported the young man to the Ospedale Maggiore di Bologna. But the injuries were too severe, and he died shortly after arrival. Now there remain questions, but above all, the pain.

That of the family, friends, and the people who worked with Riccardo and shared days and hardships with him. The carabinieri of the Dozza station and the Occupational Medicine staff of the Ausl of Imola, who intervened on site, have reconstructed without doubt what happened. Indeed, the investigations have not revealed, at this stage, any third-party responsibility nor elements suggesting a criminal hypothesis. Consequently, the Prosecutor’s Office did not order the seizure of the body, which was returned to the family for the funeral rites.
Last farewell on Tuesday at 9:30
The last farewell to the 32-year-old will be held Tuesday at 9:30, starting from the morgue of the civil hospital to the Capuchin church where the funeral mass will be celebrated. The body will then proceed to the crematorium area in Ravenna. Riccardo leaves behind his parents, brothers and a sister, as well as many friends. Friends who had the pleasure of discovering his great qualities and who, on Tuesday, will be in the front row for the last moving embrace.
