Bologna, August 12, 2026 – The collective singing in memory and remembrance of Francesco Guccini will take place. But for the date, we will have to wait first for the official communications from the Maestro’s family for the event in Bologna in September. Then, once official, the collective ‘CantateBologna’, which has already paid tribute to the singer-songwriter on via Paolo Fabbri on the very evening of his death, coordinating with the Municipality, will organize the city singing event, respecting the places, times, and people.

The announcement on social media
The announcement comes from the collective itself, made up of about twenty people aged between 20 and 50, through a post shared on Instagram together with the Municipality of Bologna.
“Hello everyone, we are the collective that initially proposed a city singing event in Bologna in the month of September (the 5th was mentioned, editor’s note). After coordinating with the Municipality, and respecting the wishes of the Guccini family, who expressed the desire to hold the city celebrations in ways and dates that will be announced soon, we want to deny any rumors circulating about a possible gathering in September“.
Many people expected from all over Italy
“We realize that announcing a collective singing in Bologna, at this extremely delicate and heartfelt moment, like the one on August 6, or like those we have done in past months, could attract many fans from all over Italy with the risk of overlapping or unintentionally replacing the official celebrations desired by the Guccini family, which we want to avoid at all costs – continue the boys and girls of the ‘CantateBologna’ collective –. As strong as the desire to gather, celebrate, and sing together the songs of the Maestro is, it seems right and proper at this moment to wait for the will of the Guccini family so that the first true celebratory event is organized and managed in the way of those closest to our beloved singer-songwriter.”

Support for the Guccini family
“There will be plenty of time and occasions to hold a singing event only after the official communications that will follow from the Guccini family. We therefore deny all news regarding a possible event on September 5 on our part, and invite everyone to follow the updates that will be announced by the institutions and the Guccini family, which we will also report – conclude the collective that on August 6 brought over 500 people to via Paolo Fabbri -. Besides thanking the hundreds of people who wrote to us showing interest in our initiative, we want to thank the Municipality of Bologna for the essential support, interest, and exceptional coordination. And above all, we renew our affectionate closeness to the Guccini family in this moment of suffering. We look forward to singing again and again our beloved Maestro, who will never truly leave.”
The collective has always been available to reach an agreement
The event, most likely, would have been Saturday, September 5. Still for Guccini. But in Piazza Maggiore. “This is because, after midnight, it would mark a month since Francesco’s passing. And then, symbolically musically, it would also recall the phrase from ’Eskimo’: ’This Sunday in September wouldn’t have felt this way’”. But the boys and girls of the collective announced that they will move the date and will coordinate with the institutions and the family of one of the greatest Italian singer-songwriters. A voice for entire generations that will always continue to resonate. Everywhere. From the streets to the arcades, from the taverns to the neighborhoods.
