Bologna, July 27, 2026 – It is a tragedy that takes shape one frame at a time, that of Abderrahim Fakir. The death of the 42-year-old who died at the height of a police stop in Pilastro, a suburb of Bologna, still has details to reveal and the dynamics of what happened, as well as its protagonists and the role they played in the tragedy, are revealed by the images that are currently the focus of the investigators. Starting with the frames from the bodycam of one of the two officers who intervened to contain Fakir. A device whose footage now provides a new clip of about ten seconds.
The final stages of containment
Images showing the officer holding the 42-year-old’s head pressed against the asphalt, while two other ordinary citizens approach from the front. These are the final stages of containment, shortly before Abderrahim lost consciousness. In this moment, besides the shirtless young man who was immediately identified as the citizen who most actively and longest helped the officers to restrain Fakir, the bodycam captures another young man, wearing a white shirt and barefoot, bending over the 42-year-old, grabbing him by a shoulder, facilitating the handcuffing of Abderrahim with this gesture.

There would be four civilians in total who took part, with different timing and methods among them, in the containment action. Before the police realized that the 42-year-old was unconscious, followed by the desperate attempt at resuscitation by the paramedics. A stop that immediately led to the opening of a model 45-bis investigation file for manslaughter, with the preliminary notes of the two police officers and the four paramedics from 118 who intervened.
A camera has been acquired
As part of this investigation, the mobile squad is working to scrutinize every second of the Pilastro tragedy. In this regard, a camera acquired in recent days by the investigators could also be helpful. A device located in the area where Fakir lost his life, between via Panzini and via Svevo, which may have recorded all or part of the moments of the intervention: from when the man began to lose control to when, after almost an hour, he died.

Witness interviews
Alongside the investigation into the images of the tragedy, the inquiry in the hands of prosecutors Arienti and Ambrosino (coordinated by chief prosecutor Paolo Guido) is also proceeding with the hearing of several witnesses. Starting, this afternoon, with Fakir’s family members.

They were summoned to the prosecutor’s office at 3 p.m., and then left exactly two hours later, Yossra, Mohamed, and Khadija Fakir, respectively niece, brother, and sister of Abderrahim. The three, assisted by lawyer Fabio Anselmo, reportedly spoke to the prosecutors to reconstruct the figure of their relative. Who Abderrahim was, what he did, and especially the last two troubled months of the 42-year-old’s life, during which at least two mental crises occurred before the one in Pilastro.
Waiting for other examinations
In the large mosaic of a difficult and complex investigation, the key could come into the hands of the judicial authority when the final autopsy results are filed. The examination, “very complex” to use the words of the experts, has already provided some objective data such as the crushing of Fakir’s lungs and the massive presence of blood in the respiratory organs. But when these circumstances occurred, how, and especially by whose or what responsibility, are still being defined. That is why many other specific tests will still be needed, starting with the analysis of Fakir’s heart. The organ, removed during the autopsy, will be examined at the end of August by pathologist Cristina Basso, then the entire team of consultants will examine the toxicology results at the beginning of September. Presumably, according to this schedule, mid-September will be the time for histological examinations on tissue samples.
