Bologna, September 7, 2026 – Fear on via Arienti, in the heart of the historic center yesterday afternoon: a fire broke out inside a condominium and a man was taken to the hospital for burns sustained on his body. He was rescued by the firefighters who then extinguished the flames. On site, around 5:30 PM, firefighters arrived with four teams, a ladder truck, and a water tanker.
With them were also local police officers and the carabinieri from the Bologna station. According to what has been reconstructed so far, the fire started in an apartment on the second floor of the building.
Inside lives a 73-year-old man from Jordan, who is blind. Usually, he is always accompanied by a caregiver, but yesterday at the time of the fire, the man was alone. It is possible that the flames started from the stove and then involved the entire apartment.
The elderly man was taken to Maggiore
The elderly man was rescued from the apartment and saved by the firefighters. He was then taken to Maggiore hospital for examinations and treatment. Meanwhile, the rescue teams emptied the apartment to continue with the fire extinguishing operations. Checks continued into the evening for a possible interdiction of the apartment and also to ascertain the exact causes of the fire.

Just a few days ago, on via Italo Svevo, in Pilastro, a similar incident occurred. The toll was one seriously intoxicated person (the tenant of the apartment that caught fire at number 3) and two other neighbors intoxicated.
The fire broke out in an apartment, almost completely destroyed, on the fifth floor: it seems that a rag caught fire. Amid fire and flames, a 58-year-old woman was trapped in the building due to a fall. In that case too, firefighters and carabinieri intervened.
