Vignola (Modena), June 5, 2026 – They were about to carry out a very dangerous assault on an armored car on the A1 motorway. Another member of the criminal gang has been arrested. In fact, last June 3, mobile squad agents carried out a further precautionary custody order in prison against a 41-year-old resident of Cerignola (Puglia), burdened by previous convictions for attempted murder, crimes against property, drug offenses, and possession of illegal weapons who, within the gang, had the specific task of tailing armored cars in order to plan the locations and times of the assault. The man was indeed tracked down last Wednesday, June 3, near his home and taken to prison.

“I don’t want to answer”The criminal plan of the gang
The criminal gang, we recall, on March 18, was responsible for organizing an armored car assault in Vignola. Following that episode, on April 9, the State Police carried out 16 precautionary custody orders in prison in Cerignola and various penitentiary institutions, issued by the district investigating judge at the request of the DDA of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Bologna.
Arrest in flagrante for 14 people
In particular, for fourteen of the sixteen recipients of the custodial measure, the Investigating Judge of Bologna renewed the custodial measures issued by the Investigating Judge of Modena following the arrest in flagrante delicto carried out during the agents’ raid last March 18 in Vignola. The Investigating Judge of Modena, in fact, recognizing the elements of the crime provided for by the new 628-bis, had transmitted the documents to the competent District Prosecutor’s Office to proceed.

The investigations were carried out by the Modena and Bologna police
The investigations, carried out by the Mobile Squads of Modena and Bologna, with operational coordination from the Central Operational Service, indeed allowed for the crystallization of serious circumstantial evidence against the fourteen individuals arrested in Vignola. Subsequent investigations after the arrest also allowed for the collection of serious and corroborating evidence against two other individuals who had escaped arrest.
Now a third of those who escaped capture has been caught thanks to the meticulous investigations of the mobile squad, who went to Cerignola to arrest him.
