Rimini, August 30, 2026 – The dismissal of Sigfrido Ranucci from Report? “A decision imposed from above.” The figures released about his alleged earnings? “False. Those are not my salaries, but the total costs of the services produced…”. Giulia Innocenzi speaks bluntly after Rai decided to remove Ranucci from Report and entrust the hosting of the show to Giulia Presutti and Daniele Piervincenzi. The journalist from Rimini has been one of Report’s correspondents since 2022 and has produced dozens of reports for the program, especially on intensive farming and the agri-food supply chain.

The dismissal of Ranucci after the arrest of Valter Lavitola, the mastermind behind the attack on the journalist, and the choice to entrust the hosting to Presutti and Piervincenzi, “left me and all the Report correspondents speechless. We learned about it from news agencies – assures Innocenzi in an interview yesterday on Rtl 102.5 – Rai did not call us beforehand to inform us. It was a decision imposed from above that we rejected outright. If Rai does not take a step back, we will all leave together.” When “we were informed of the decision to change the host, we were ready to go to Rai to discuss a plan together.” Instead, the announcement of the appointment of Presutti and Piervincenzi arrived. Who “in our opinion – continues Innocenzi – do not represent the values and history of Report…”. And “imposing these two names from above with the approval of the majority parties, after months of a smear campaign against Report, makes me say that indeed this appointment, as Ranucci also said, is welcomed by politics. And so there is cause for concern.”
Speaking of smears, Innocenzi also clarifies the figures released in recent weeks about the alleged earnings of herself and other Report correspondents. In Innocenzi’s case: 140,000 euros in the 2022-’23 season, almost 74,000 in the following one, and 228,000 in 2024-’25. “All false. A truly vile move, because those are not our salaries, but the fees along with all the costs we bear: payment of editors and technicians, expenses for planes, trains, hotels, car rentals, and fuel.” Those figures represent “all the expenses we have faced to carry out our investigations.” Investigations for which “we have spent months, sometimes even years, to complete.”
