Bologna, August 14, 2026 – All threats come to a head. Those vomited with hatred on social media after the street clashes following the death of Abderrahim Fakir, but especially those that climbed up the Internet to the personal email of the mayor Matteo Lepore.
Death threats of the kind: “We will come for you. You and your children”; “We already know where you live,” complete with Lepore’s (old) address. Threats for which the mayor had filed a complaint and for which he was also assigned a personal escort in the following days.
Poisonous words that have now cost twenty people registration in the register of suspects for aggravated threats by computer method. Twenty people, that many have been formally investigated by the prosecutor after a thorough investigation by the state police that started immediately after Lepore’s complaint.
According to what has emerged, they would be ordinary citizens: mostly from Bologna. Students, but also residents and shopkeepers from the historic center left burned by those violent clashes between protesters and police.
Among the 20 suspects, however, there would also be people from outside the province and region. Among them, however, the suspects would not know each other, nor is there currently any coordinated action behind them. The investigation, however, after this first breakthrough is destined to continue for further checks.
A 23-year-old Frenchman investigated for writings against Meloni
All this while, the day after the news of the 23-year-old Frenchman investigated and reported by the Police Headquarters for anti-Semitic graffiti and against Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, yesterday other writings appeared on the hills and downtown, also in French, and always of the same tenor: threats to the Prime Minister and insults to the police, referring to the death of Fakir, the 42-year-old who died in Pilastro during a police check on July 19.

The spiral of anti-government hatred and against the police forces that for weeks has been staining the walls and beyond of the Two Towers shows no signs of stopping.
New episodes against Meloni and the police
On the night between Wednesday and Thursday, other graffiti were written in two distinct places: they have already been recorded by the police, who are working to try to trace the perpetrators. Just like a few days ago, when the Digos identified and reported one of the vandals in Vicolo Bianchetti.
But the other night, vandals or professionals of disorder returned to action, leaving two messages in via Codivilla, under the sign of Fonte Remonda. On that wall, the threat to the Prime Minister: “Meloni hanged,” written with a black spray can; nearby, in pink, also in large letters, the writing “Tout le monde déteste la police,” a slogan symbolizing the street demonstrations and protest marches against the police. A chorus that, even on the night of the July 20 riot, was the soundtrack for the two hundred rioters who wreaked havoc in the historic center.
Strada Maggiore also targeted, although this time the vandals spared the walls, leaving their ’requests’ on the white tarp delimiting the construction area under the Portico dei Servi: here appears the name Fakir, accompanied by a writing in English indicating “killed by the f***ing police” and an anarchist ’A’. Nearby are other insults: “F***ing police” and a French expression similar to ’Acab’, also with a car that should be a police car drawn upside down. The Siulp union intervenes, with provincial secretary Pasquale Palma: “Enough tensions, responsibility is needed. Pointing the finger at the police and accompanying accusations with insults does not help the search for truth.” For the FdI MEP Stefano Cavedagna, the Council must “work to obtain the Urban Daspo for all those who have made writings, attacked officers in Piazza Roosevelt and are writing threats.”
