Pesaro, July 15, 2026 – A fundraiser to bring Mor Kaire Seck back to Senegal and allow his father to accompany him on his final journey.
Tavullia has rallied around the family of the 14-year-old boy who died yesterday morning in the Intensive Care Unit of San Salvatore hospital, where he had been admitted since Wednesday after being found unconscious in the sea along the free beach area between bagni Bibi and I Gelsi.
Solidarity for repatriation expenses
The Municipality, the school, and associations have already launched a solidarity campaign to help the parents face the costs of repatriating the body. Mor Kaire, an Italian citizen of Senegalese origin, was born in 2011 and lived with his family in Tavullia. He had just completed the middle school exam and was preparing to start high school.
The father, Khadim Seck, has lived in Italy since 2008 and works full-time as a turner in a company in the Pirano district. There are other young children at home. “It is a family perfectly integrated into our community – says the Social Services Councillor Laura Macchini –. The father is a well-known and respected person by everyone. He is facing this pain with impressive strength and dignity.”

The fundraiser was set up to support the father’s wish to accompany his son to Senegal. “He would not have peace if the coffin had to leave alone,” said Mayor Patrizio Federici, announcing the involvement of local associations. What happened
Wednesday afternoon Mor Kaire was on the beach with a peer. At some point, the friend lost sight of him and raised the alarm. The boy was found shortly after in the water, unconscious and with his face submerged. Lifeguards brought him ashore and immediately started resuscitation, also using a defibrillator. His heart started beating again, but the clinical condition remained desperate until his death yesterday morning.
